As you can see, he needs paint especially on the head to add detail to his eyes and mouth. He also needs a mane and tail. The wood blocks that hold the swing irons will be replaced with proper brass brackets and there will also be covers for the ends of the swing irons. I will begin work today - cutting a proper grove for the mane and sanding the base.
I was hoping my rocking horse creations would be more then just toys. and today, I discovered they have and can be much more! Apparently, Charles I had weak limbs up to the age of 7, so his caretakers had a rocking horse designed for him to help in his development. The story about him says that it not only helped him to walk, be he became an accomplished horseman and equestrian! How incredible!
